Discover the Saint Viateur East Sector

Mile End Memories and The Friends of Saint-Laurent Boulevard** invite you to explore the Saint Viateur East Sector, bound by Laurier Avenue, Saint Laurent Boulevard, the CP railway line and Saint Denis Street. Discover the history of this unique urban vernacular landscape, which boasts a railway line, streets and rowhouses dating the last quarter of the 19th century, a former rail yard, a handful of religious and civic institutions, and hundreds of residential and commercial buildings constructed at the turn of the 20th century, as well as megastructures designed for the garment industry during the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s. This sector, with its 3,500 residents and 7,500 employees, will be subject to major redevelop-ment projects in the near future.
Date and time: Saturday 18 April and Sunday 19 April 2009, 2:00-4:30 p.m. (rain or shine)
Departure: In front of the Saint Enfant Jésus Church, Saint Dominique Street between Saint Joseph Boulevard and Laurier Avenue (bus 55 or 51, or Laurier metro)
