You are invited to participate in the last two CITIZENS\u2019 CAF\u00c9S on the development of Mile End\u2019s Saint-Viateur East District<\/span><\/strong><\/span>. For the purposes of our discussions, this district is framed by the CPR tracks near\u00a0Van Horne Avenue\u00a0to the north,\u00a0Saint-Laurent Boulevard(including the properties on both sides of the street) to the west,\u00a0Laurier Avenue\u00a0to the south and\u00a0Saint-Denis Street\u00a0to the east; the limits defined by the Plateau Mont-Royal Borough are slightly different.\u00a0The future development of this district will have an impact on the entire Mile End neighbourhood as well as on the\u00a0Main<\/em>.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>CITIZENS\u2019 CAF\u00c9S on the following themes<\/span>,\u00a0which have <\/span>attracted<\/span> between 60 and 75 participants each, have raised several relevant points and innovative ideas<\/span><\/span><\/span>:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Transportation: 19 January 2009<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Housing: 26 January 2009<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Culture: 9 February 2009<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Economy\/Services: 23 February 2009<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The last two CITIZENS\u2019 CAF\u00c9S, which deal with more global themes, present an opportunity to revisit many of the ideas and points raised at the previous caf\u00e9s, with a heritage and environmental perspective:<\/strong><\/p>\n HERITAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n Monday 9 March 2009, 7-9 p.m., at Caf\u00e9 Cagibi, 5490 Saint-Laurent (corner of Saint-Viateur)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n ENVIRONMENT \/ GREEN NEIGHBOURHOOD<\/strong><\/p>\n Monday 23 March 2009, 7-9 p.m., at the Green Room, 5386 Saint-Laurent (just south of Saint-Viateur)<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Everyone is welcome! Here\u2019s your chance to share your ideas, to hear the ideas of others and to brainstorm about the development of this district.<\/span><\/strong><\/span> These CITIZENS\u2019 CAF\u00c9S are free and no advance registration is required.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n You are also invited to participate in the presentation of a summary of these gatherings and the preparation of a series of recommendations during a CITIZENS\u2019 FORUM on Sunday 26 April 2009, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at \u00e9cole\u00a0Saint-Louis,\u00a038 Fairmount Avenue East <\/span><\/strong><\/span>(corner of Saint-Dominique). The cost is $5 \/ person, or $20 \/ organization, company or institution, lunch included.\u00a0Advance registration for the CITIZENS\u2019 FORUM is obligatory<\/strong>, either in person at the citizens\u2019 caf\u00e9s or at the Park Avenue YMCA (5550 Park Avenue) or by email at <\/span><\/span>comitecitoyenmileend@gmail.com<\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0Daycare service<\/strong> is offered for children between 2 and 12; please specify your needs upon registration.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n These activities are organized by the\u00a0Mile End Citizens\u2019 Committee<\/em><\/strong>, in collaboration with several other community groups and partners, including the\u00a0Urban Ecology Centre of Montreal<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Mile End Memories <\/strong><\/em>and\u00a0Friends of Saint-Laurent Boulevard<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
