We will explore the urban, cultural and social development and the architecture and conservation of the dense vernacular landscape that occupies part of the former property of Dr. Pierre Beaubien. Among the highlights of this tour are the Church of Saint-Enfant-J\u00e9sus and several religious and educational institutions near the heart of the former village of Saint-Louis du Mile-End, the Carmelite Convent, rowhousing dating to the late 19th<sup>th<\/sup>-century, the early 20<sup>th<\/sup>-century and the last 15 years, the megastructures built in the 1960s and 1970s for the garment industry, and the former railway yard known today as \u201cChamp des possibles.\u201d \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Dates and times:<br \/>\n<strong>Saturday 10 July 2010, 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. (<a title=\"Visite \u00e0 pied: Le Mile end Est\" href=\"http:\/\/mile-end.qc.ca\/2010\/06\/visite-a-pied-le-mile-end-est\/\" target=\"_self\">in French<\/a>), and Sunday 11 July 2010, 2:00-4:30 p.m. (in English), rain or shine<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Departure and end points:<br \/>\n<strong>Northeast corner of Mount Royal Avenue and Henri-Julien Street (97 or 11 bus, m\u00e9tro Mont-Royal)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Cost:<br \/>\n<strong>$12 per person<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Reservations:<br \/>\n<strong>Not necessary<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>* Mile End Memories<\/em><\/strong> is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the heritage, history and culture of the Mile End neighbourhood.
