Over the next few decades, that population moved away to other parts of the city. St. Michael\u2019s merged with a Polish mission in 1969 and today, people are often surprised to learn that the church was ever Irish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>New tour<\/strong> \u2013 no registration required, just come to the meeting point.<br \/>\n<strong>Date and time<\/strong>: <strong>Saturday 25<\/strong> June 2022, <strong>1:30 pm<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Place<\/strong>: <strong>Laurier metro<\/strong>, Laurier exit, at the corner of Rivard Street (place du Coteau-Saint-Louis)<br \/>\nLanguages: English and French<br \/>\nEnd: St. Michael&#8217;s Church by 3 pm<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Mile End Memories is going in search of Irish Mile End. With the support of the Belonging and Identity project of the <a href=\"https:\/\/qahn.org\/\">Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network<\/a> (QAHN) [1], we have launched a research project to discover the Irish legacy in the neighbourhood and to find out where the community moved after the Second World War.<\/p>\n<p>Please come on our first Irish Mile End walk, Friday 29 October. Meet at 4 pm on Shamrock Avenue at the corner of Saint-Dominique, one block south of Jean-Talon Street and one block west of the Premi\u00e8re Moisson bakery at Jean-Talon Market.
