The church is exceptional for its architecture unique in Qu\u00e9bec and for the architects and artists who designed and decorated it. It stimulated and accompanied the urbanization of the countryside just north of Montr\u00e9al during the 19th century, demonstrating the fundamental role of the Catholic Church in French-Canadian society.
