(Change from the program published in the spring: the tour will be given in English on Saturday, and in French on Sunday.)
Discover the rich history of New Mile End (between Saint-Denis and Christophe-Colomb Streets). We will explore the urban, cultural and social development and the architecture and conservation of the dense vernacular landscape of the former municipality of Côte Saint-Louis. Among the highlights of this tour are some village houses near Des Carrières Street, several types of rowhouses dating to the turn of the 20th century, walk-ups of the 1920s and 1930s on Saint-Joseph Boulevard and De Mentana Street, modern apartment towers around the Laurier métro, sites of future housing developments, as well as religious ensembles and parks.
