The Construction and Demolition of a Mile End Parish : The Saint-Georges Community, 1908-1991

This lecture tells the story of a Catholic community that has disappeared and a reflection on recognizing immaterial heritage of the site now occupied by the Lambert Closse School (on Bernard Street between Waverly and Saint-Urbain Streets). It will be followed by the projection of Guy F. Côté’s 1972 NFB film Tranquillement pas vite, on the demolition of the church.
