Garden tour, 2012 (photo: Justin Bur)

Are you proud of your garden? An odd question to ask in the middle of winter, but Mile End Memories, the neighbourhood historical and cultural group, is planning something new for its highly popular “Hidden Gardens” tour in 2014.

We are asking people whose backyards contain botanical and landscaping treasures to contact us if they would be willing to become a stop on next summer’s tour. Any kind of garden is eligible – floral, vegetable, hardscape, interior or exterior, on a balcony, terrace or yard.

If you have any photographs of your garden, please include them, along with a brief description of what makes your yard special.

Our planning committee will be in touch with you to arrange an exploratory visit at some point in June. The tour itself will be later in the season to allow the gardens to reach their peak. Please note that in planning the tour, we must also consider logistics; the final choice of gardens will necessarily be at the discretion of our committee.

You can also nominate someone else’s garden, but make sure they would be willing to open it to a tour one weekend afternoon.

Please send submissions to jardins@mile-end.qc.ca before March 1, 2014.
