Our first walking tour of 2021 will be held in French on Sunday, 1 August at 1 pm. Please see here for description and details, including the link for registration (required).

English version:

From its early days as a small, rural, French-Canadian village, through its era as the heart and home for multiple generations of immigrant communities. From its emergence as a hub for Montreal’s independent arts scene, to its more recent incarnation as a centre of the tech industry, Mile End has been a neighbourhood defined by constant transformation and adaptation.

These changes have not come without their share of challenges. But despite the highs and lows, one thing that has remained consistent is the resilience and creativity of its residents. During this walk, we will discover the stories of the community groups and individuals — residents, activists and artists — who have mobilized to protect Mile End’s unique history, diversity and accessibility and have fought to ensure that Mile End remains more than just a neighbourhood, but a community.

Tour led by Melanie Leavitt, of Mile End Memories.

A voluntary contribution ($10 suggested) would be appreciated, to support the organization’s program.
