Mile End Memories, 2 December 2009

Susan Bronson, architect & historian

This lecture will mark the centenary of an important turning point in the history of our neighbourhood: the annexation, on 1 January 1910, of the Town of Saint Louis by the City of Montreal. It will examine the 15 years leading up to that date, during which this former suburb experienced rapid urban development, an extraordinary construction boom and an unprecedented population increase. It was during this period that the distinct character of Mile End’s urban landscape was defined and took shape.
