Lecture: The YMCA in Mile End

The Young Men’s Christian Association in Mile End a century ago

Janis Zubalik, teacher and art historian

In 1912, the North Branch of the Montreal Young Men’s Christian Association opened its doors at the corner of Park Avenue and St Viateur Street, in the bustling Mile End district. Next year, the YMCA celebrates 100 years on this corner. This illustrated lecture presents why and how ‘the Y’ laid down roots in the neighbourhood.

Janis Zubalik is a long-time resident of Mile End, and is one of the founding members of Mile End Memories.
