This talk will illustrate how a group of women were inspired to celebrate International Women’s Day through exhibitions, films, workshops and performances of women artists in the neighbourhood of Mile End.

They will share their visions of the empowerment of local women artists through the story of the exhibitions and offshoot events, with the weaving of art into the life of the neighbourhood between 1994 and 2013.

Presented by the founders and the artist-coordinators: Barbara (Bashka) Diakowska-Séguin, Claudine Schirardin, Marie Cornellier, Louise Dubreuil, Anne-Marie Lévesque, Pandora Hobby, Miriam Maayan, Marilyn Berzan-Montblanch, Kathryn Harvey, Anne Imrie.
