As with good neighbours, we’re never happy when a well-loved neighborhood business has to close. Sometimes it seems they are too quickly forced away by high rents, or that the neighborhood is changing too fast for comfort. This talk will try to provide some historic perspective on the changing face of Mile End businesses.

Also, to accompany the latest newsletter of the Société d’histoire du Plateau on places that have been in business for a very long time, we will discuss a few Mile End examples.

Speaker: Justin Bur, Ph.D. candidate in urban studies, UQAM, Member of Mile End Memories.
